How we work with you.

When you first reach out to us, we will start with a conversation. We know that every business and every entrepreneur is unique, so our first priority is understanding you, your business, and your needs. After all, we know you probably didn’t start your business to run the back office, so we will design a custom-fit solution to allow you to do what you do best: grow!

When we’re formulating your custom-fit solution, we will ask some broad questions, such as:

  • What are your goals for the business?

  • What information is most important to you?

  • How does your business make money and spend money?

  • Do you have any employees? If not, do you intend to hire in the future?

  • In addition to yourself, is there anyone else who needs to know what is going on with your business such as a bank or an outside investor?

Our services.

  • Bookkeeping

On a regular basis (monthly or quarterly), we will record transactions, reconcile accounts, reconcile revenues, and prepare a set of overview financial statements to include at least a balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement. We will show you how to understand the reports we prepare for you so that you can make better, more informed decisions.

  • Clean Up

If you’re not confident in the information you’re currently seeing from your business, we will review the current state of your books, suggest and implement improvements, and ensure your reporting is back on solid ground. Once cleaned up, we can either continue to assist you on an ongoing basis, or coach you how to keep things straight yourself.

  • Initial Setup and Coaching

Helpful especially for newer businesses, or those businesses who want to establish a more formal bookkeeping and accounting structure. We will work with you to design a chart of accounts appropriate for your business and the industry in which you work, ensuring that it will meet your needs. We will also work to set up your finance operations so that your back office can run smoothly. Once setup, we can either continue to assist you or we can teach you how to do it yourself.

  • Accounts Payable Management

We will help to establish strong processes to make sure your bills are getting paid on time. This can include inputting received from vendors, processing credit card transactions, receiving receipts from purchases, and even processing payments from your account on your behalf.

  • Accounts Receivable Management

We will help prepare and submit invoices to your customers to help you get paid faster. Once funds are received, we will apply those payments to the appropriate account to allow you to quickly and easily see who has paid you and who you should be calling to get payment.

  • Cash Forecasting

Large payments can cause a strain on your business as you need to send cash out the door while you’re waiting for payments from your customers. Tax time can especially be a stressful time for a small business owner as you make your estimated tax payments. We will help you forecast your cash balances in the short- to medium-term to help you understand if you will be able to cover those big payments.

  • Financial Statement Preparation

Whether we prepare your books or you get them from somewhere else, we can help prepare a full set up financial statements compliant with US generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), including all typically required footnotes and disclosures. While we are not able to provide an audit or any other level of assurance, some users of financial statements such as banks and insurers are happy to see a full set of financial statements prepared by an experienced CPA.

  • Internal Control Risk Assessments

As your business grows and more people join your team, the importance of internal controls grows exponentially. Strong internal controls help give you confidence that the information you’re seeing is correct and can even reduce the risk of fraud. Weak internal controls can make you vulnerable to theft and can make you question whether you’re making good decisions. With the guidance of an experienced CPA, we will help understand your current processes, make recommendations, and even help you implement any improvements.
